Reference #: 23000844\ Description\ Grade:  T25\ The link below will give you information about the University\'s \"T\" salary structure.\ A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant\'s education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.\ .\ The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Research Scientist are to manage heterogeneous data preprocessing and cleaning; develop algorithms for real-world data modeling; perform advanced data statistics and machine learning; and generate predictive models; and build decision support systems for clinical applications and public health enhancement.\ Essential Functions: Assist the PI with conducting research experiments, preparing data, generating results, and writing manuscripts and grant proposals; Apply expert knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to\ develop new algorithms related to the analysis and interpretation of information from Electronic Health Records, environmental sensors, and public health data repositories; Collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and other clinical and research scientists, physicians, and community partners; Co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students with the PI; Remain competent and current through self-directed professional development and training; Performs other related duties as assigned.\ At Temple, you will find it easy to fit in while staying true to yourself.  We value what makes each employee unique and strive to maintain a culture of diversity and inclusion.  As an employee, you will enjoy our collaborative team-based culture that values innovation and creativity.\ Visit to learn more about the benefits of working at Temple University.\ Required Education & Experience:\ Masters Degree Required (doctoral degree preferred) from Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biomedical informatics, Statistics, or other related disciplines is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.\ Required Skills & Abilities:\ * At least 3+ years of working with Python (or R), MatLab, and Java (or C#/C++).\ * At least 3+ years of relational databases (such as Oracle, MySQL, SQLite, and MS-SQL Server) and experience with big data databases, i.e., NoSQL databases, (such as MongoDB, HBase, Neo4j, Cassandra).\ * Working experience with advanced AI tools, such as TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, and Weka-AI.\ * Proficient with High-Performance Computing (HPC) for machine learning and data analysis.\ * Familiar with both Windows and Linux/Unix systems.\ * Capabilities of computational algorithm development, including creating new algorithms and optimizing existing algorithms\ * Experience with software development platforms, such as Docker and Hadoop, for application development with large amounts of data.\ * Excellent scientific writing skills.\ * Graduate-level courses with advanced algorithms (such as CNN, RNN, and GAN), sophisticated statistics (especially with multivariate analysis and time series analysis), and complex machine learning (such as deep learning and reinforced learning).\ Preferred:\ * Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to work with staff, students, faculty, and corporate collaborators.\ * Knowledge and experience with federated learning and parallel computing.\ This position requires a background check.\ This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.\ Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
