This position is part of the Support Unit of the Bureau of Insurance and works very closely with the licensing division. The position is responsible for allocating all daily incoming revenue ($15 million annually) and all billing questions from all Insurance licensees.
Primary responsibilities include:
Allocating all incoming revenue into the ALMS system
Processing all credit card payments via the online system and trouble-shooting as needed
Responding to all billing questions for all Insurance License types
Responsible for tracking enforcement payments and informing the legal staff of payment status
Working with over 1,000 companies to process licensee appointments bi-annually
Working with MaineIT and others to continually maintain and update billing portions of the ALMS database
Skills or knowledge required:
Prior knowledge of ALMS is preferred but not required
Bookkeeping experience, including experience processing a large volume of checks and other forms of payment
Math skills and attention to detail
Minimum qualifications:
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices to perform complex work in assisting taxpayers on complex tax matters, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of:Accounting AssistantandAccounting Associate I.
Preference will be given to those applicants:
Experience with bookkeeping and accounts receivable/accounts payable in a professional environment. Experience with the State of Maine’s ALMS system is preferred, but not required.
