JOB SUMMARY
The Central Dispatch Call Taker will receive transportation requests from the community. Position will assist riders with scheduling various types of transports, including but not limited to: Non-Emergent Medical Transports (NEMTs), Grocery Shopping, and Leisure Activities. The Call Taker may work day or evening hours. Requests will come in phone, electronic mail, text message, or paper application form.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
High level customer service when receiving transportation requests and engaging community riders.
Log requests and their outcomes.
Maintain open communication between rider, Central Dispatch personnel, and transportation providers.
Log Non-Emergent Medical Transportation information in accordance with MIT protocol.
Monitor type and availability of different transportation services available to riders.
Work with Central Dispatch Supervisor and Transportation Management to maintain and increase transportation dispatch efficiency and efficacy.
On call, or call routing during off-hours.
Open, active engagement with community and coworkers.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience in customer service and administrative positions. Microsoft Office programs skills.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Skills in:
Written and verbal communication.
Customer service.
Operating standard office equipment, including personal computer and applicable software.
Statistical data recording and organization.
Report preparation.
Critical thinking.
Problem solving.
Knowledge of:
MIT programs and day-to-day operations.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) best practices concerning dispatch and transportation services.
MIT Reservation and surrounding area.
Washington State traffic laws, rules, and regulations.
Ability to:
Focus on high-level customer service.
Prioritize tasks.
Comply with applicable laws, ordinances, policies, and regulations.
Maintain professionalism.
Work independently.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; talk and hear; reach with hand and arms and/or grasp with fingers; bend, stoop, or climb while evaluating vehicles; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Continuously uses vision. Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to inclement weather, moderate to loud noises, and moving mechanical parts.
Licenses or Certifications Required
A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
