Role Details

City of Monroe Journeyman/Lineman: Performs difficult technical work in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the electric transmission and distribution system; does related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of an Electric Line Crew Leader. Constructing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground power transmission and distribution lines, substations and related facilities; troubleshooting power outages and restoring power as safely and efficiently as possible; operating equipment. Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools used in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems; thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards connected with electrical transmission and distribution duties and the safety precautions required; skill in the use and care of tools of the trade; ability to perform manual work and physical stamina to withstand working under adverse weather conditions; ability to climb poles. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in electric line construction and maintenance. Ability to obtain Journeyman Lineman certification within one year of hire. Possession of an appropriate commercial driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. CPR and basic first aid certification required.

Salary $60,278 – 100,464.
