*Title: Associate General Counsel for Research Company: Roswell Park Cancer Institute Department: General Counsel & Compliance Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Roswell Park is seeking an Associate General Counsel for Research to work in the General Counsel and Compliance Department, reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel. • The Associate General Counsel for Research is responsible for performing legal services that support the research mission of the organization, including: o Draft, review and negotiate research-related Agreements (Clinical Trial, Collaborative Research, Sponsored Research, Material Transfer, Data Use and Confidential Disclosure Agreements) o Provide regulatory guidance and contract interpretation to the Office of Clinical Research Services (CRS) (including budget and compliance functions); the Office of Research Subject Protection (ORSP); and Roswell Park's Institutional Review Board (IRB) as necessary to support the execution and implementation of research related agreements o Collaboration with CRS, ORSP, Principal Investigators, research staff, external sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) to understand and resolve key contract issues. o Collaborate with Roswell Park's Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) to understand intellectual property (IP) rights and implications and ensure the organization's IP interests are protected. o Draft, negotiate, and execute other complex research and development related agreements. o Assist the OTT with licensing and other technology transfer transactions. o Advise the organization with respect risk management as it pertains to clinical research-related matters • The Associate General Counsel for Research assists the Chief Legal Officer and the General Counsel with other legal matters as needed. • The Associate General Counsel interfaces with management of various clinical, research and administrative departments, and provides timely legal guidance to facilitate Roswell Park objectives and support operations, while minimizing potential legal risk and exposure. • This position qualifies for a hybrid remote work arrangement. Qualifications:* Required Education and Experience License Requirement J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar. Education and Experience Four (4) years of full-time responsible private practice or in-house legal experience, including general corporate and/or business related matters. NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices. - Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have at least three (3) years of experience in clinical research related practice that includes review and negotiation of the research-related agreement types described above.
