Overview

Buildings & General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting dynamic opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Master Electrician at Northwest Correctional Facility.

\ As Master Electrician, you will perform highly-skilled electrical work for the Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) involving the design, installation and maintenance of routine and complex systems including fire alarm systems.\ This is a full-time position, and the hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position reports to the maintenance shop located at the Northwest State Correctional facility.Incumbent must pass a Department of Corrections/VSP background check.

Starting salary may be negotiable based on experience and education, with a starting salary range of \$24.93/hr to \$30.81/hr.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional facilities and psychiatric care facilities. Contact with inmates and patients may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior, and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Electrical repairs may entail exposure to live electrical parts, for which protective clothing must be worn. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Position requires possession of a valid driver\'s license.
