  • At least three years of professional experience in IT or database administration, or at least one year of professional experience in IT or database administration coupled with a degree in computer science or a related field.

  • Experience working with Mac OS, Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008+ operating systems, Active Directory, and Exchange/Office 365.

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to present technical information in a manner that is easy to understand.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in written and oral form.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks, often with competing deadlines.

  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with internal constituents including but not limited to faculty, staff, and students.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., and stand, kneel, or walk for extended periods of time, when necessary.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check at hire.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with electronic health records and/or PACS systems.

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as SQL.

  • Familiarity with Crystal Reports or similar software such as Power BI or Tableau.

Department:Office of Administration and FinancePre-Employment Screening:Criminal, Education, IdentityJob Function:Information Technology Position Description:

  • Responsible for all user account administration associated with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) including but not limited to creating and disabling accounts, performing password resets, creating swipe cards, access management, running monthly audit reports, and training users on the system as necessary.

  • Responsible for the administration of the eRx Prescription Account Management system; works with providers to create and activate online prescription accounts; deactivates accounts, and troubleshoots registration and account issues.

  • Collaborates with Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) to ensure that all Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) VM’s are patched and current; enters requests for new VM’s, decommissions old VM’s, and researches requirements for any new VM’s for upcoming projects.

  • Collaborates with HSDM IT to ensure all clinical applications are up-to-date.

  • Serves as the point of contact in coordinating ticket requests and troubleshooting EHR-related issues.

  • Creates, updates, and deploys user operating instruction manuals for new and current EHR modules.

  • Queries and reports data from various systems for internal HSDM constituents, as needed or requested.

  • Supports the HSDM IT Department, responds to service requests, and provides assistance as necessary.

  • Contributes to a culture of civility, inclusivity, and respect.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Working Conditions:

The primary work location for this position is Boston, MA and some in-person on-campus work will be required. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business. In order to be on Harvard payroll, you must reside in one of the following states – CA (exempt employees only), CT, GA, IL, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VT, VA, WA. The IT Support Associate I, Systems Administrator is responsible for a variety of systems administration and management functions. The incumbent provides support to internal constituents related to systems training, data reporting, and troubleshooting issues.
