Position Description

TheSt. David’s School of Nursing (https://www.nursing.txstate.edu/) at Texas State University seeks dynamic, innovative educators interested in a faculty position at the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor level in a rapidly evolving environment. Qualified candidates are passionate about mentoring graduate students, have a reputation for collegial interactions, and are committed to teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates are committed to preparing Nurse Practitioners who are caring practitioners, patient advocates, and visionary leaders.

The nine-month clinical track appointment, with possible summer employment, reports to the Director, St. David’s School of Nursing on the Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus. The School of Nursing is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health Professions. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The responsibilities include participation in curriculum development and teaching. Interest in and ability to utilize simulation are also requirements for teaching in the MSN program. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities, as well as academic service to the department, college, and university.

All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited University

  • National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner

  • Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse ( APRN ) license or ELIGIBLE for APRN licensure in Texas

  • Demonstrated clinical competence as a Nurse Practitioner

  • Significant years of full-time experience in clinical practice or management, and potential for significant professional growth

  • Clinical Assistant Professor: more than 5 years

  • Clinical Associate Professor: more than 10 years

  • Clinical Professor: more than 15 years

  • Experience in professional education at the university level

  • Clinical Assistant Professor: less than 5 years

  • Clinical Associate Professor: more than 5 years

  • Clinical Professor: more than 10 years

  • Engaged in scholarship through relevant professional presentations, workshops, or publications

  • Leadership in relevant professional organizations

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the nursing program’s vision, mission and goals as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate or enrolled in a doctoral program with an earned master’s degree in nursing.

  • Demonstrated leadership supporting diversity in nursing education and/or professional development.

  • Demonstrated collegial leadership and team development.

  • Experience in higher education including accreditation, program development, assessment, and curriculum design.

  • Teaching experience utilizing distance education modalities, to include on-line instruction.

  • Teaching experience with simulation or virtual education.

  • Experience in building and promoting community relationships and partnerships in clinical or academic settings.
