Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for Principal Engineer Systems an to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Responsibilities
Develops requirements for data visualizations, analyses, decision support systems, recommendation engines, and databases
Coordinates scrum activities in support of data projects including management of requirements and tasks via a software tool (e.g. Jira, Azure Dev Ops)
Communicates key project status information to stakeholders and customers and incorporates feedback into data product backlogs based on these interactions
Prepares cost and schedule estimates for data related projects in support of strategic planning activities
Architects database products including queries, views, and stored procedures for use in application and visualization development
Develops data visualizations in support of actionable decision making using standard software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
Conducts detailed evaluations and provides recommendations regarding data capture, analysis, and operations technology in support of data science initiatives
Prepares training data collection plans and data capture methods in support of supervised machine learning models

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications
5 Years of work experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) programming (e.g. common table expressions, stored procedure and view preparation)
Familiarity with manufacturing and/or supply chain management concepts
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system concepts (e.g. Material Requirements Planning)
Experience with a project management ticketing software (e.g. Atlassian Jira, Microsoft Azure DevOps)
Experience programming in a high-level programming language (e.g. Python, C#, Java)
Preferred Qualifications
Scrum or Agile framework certification
Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment systems and pipeline tools (e.g. Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins, Bamboo)
Experience using a version control system for code management (e.g. Git, SVN)
Experience with a front-end data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker) or library (e.g. D3, Matplotlib, Plotly)
Experience in Python programming language including familiarity with typical data science libraries (e.g. NumPy, SciPy, SciKit Learn, Pandas)
Salary Range: $104,600.00 - $157,000.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
