The Role: Patient Scheduling Representative – Pre-Arrival

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Pre-Arrival scheduler to join our team of professionals. The Patient Scheduler is responsible for gathering and verifying patient information including patient demographics and insurance information for scheduled appointments at our facility and physician practices. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced call-center environment and have a desire to help patients, this is your opportunity to be part of a great team.

Job Description:

The Work:

  • Coordinates the scheduling of patient procedures/diagnostics for assigned area or function

  • Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs

  • Communicates with medical and clinical staff to ensure availability of facilities and staff and intake preauthorization’s at time of scheduling

  • Communicates with patients and/or their families, as permissible, to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointments

  • Intakes demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations as necessary for all scheduled encounters

You Have:

  • Two or more years of medical office or clerical hospital experience preferred

  • Experience scheduling patients

  • Extensive customer service experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Working knowledge of patient registration, pre-authorization, medical necessity

  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at once

  • Quick and accurate keyboarding skills
