Certified Nursing Assistants will work under the direct supervision of a Correctional Nurse II. They will contribute to basics health assessments, collects, reports and records on flow sheets and treatment sheets basic objectives and subjective data related to Patient\'s health status and reports any changes to the CN II.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Some positions require current CPR certification at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant I, II and III. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Ability to care for the environment of the patient. Working knowledge of basic restorative services. Working knowledge of infection control procedures. Ability to measure and record height and weight. Working knowledge of promoting the independence of residents/patients. Working knowledge of basic nursing and personal care. Ability to take and record vital signs. Ability to care for cognitively impaired individuals. Working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures. Working knowledge of communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to observe and report signs and symptoms of illness or injury. Working knowledge of awareness of psychosocial characteristics of residents/patients. Working knowledge of the role and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Ability to perform procedures for noninvasive elimination, collection of specimens, and application of dressings. Working knowledge of the rights of residents/patients. Abi ity to measure and record the intake and output of fluids and food. Ability in all knowledge, skills and abilities required at the lower levels.
