Permian Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. At year-end 2020, the company held about 750 thousand net acres across the basin, with net production of 85 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. ConocoPhillips is committed to being an innovative and environmentally responsible operator, and the new technologies and practices that it is using in this area exemplify that.

In January 2021, ConocoPhillips completed the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc., greatly expanding the company’s position in the Permian Basin. The addition of 550,000 net acres complements the company’s position in the Delaware and Midland Basins and created a sizeable Permian presence.

Description

If you are selected as the Permian Completions Supervisor, your primary purpose will be to coordinate and directly supervise the safe and efficient implementation of completion activities for newly drilled wells associated with the company’s active work program in the Permian Business Unit’s unconventional resource plays. The Permian assets are one of the most rapidly growing and active programs in Lower 48. Over the next several years, this horizontal well program will actively develop ConocoPhillips’ acreage. The Completions group provides ongoing support for these programs.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing onsite management of field operations including fracturing, wire line, coiled tubing, snubbing and workover operations for horizontal wells ensuring that wells are completed in an efficient, technically competent, safe, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner

• Implementing COP health, safety and environmental policy through pro-active supervision and coaching of contract personnel

• Managing projects and timing to achieve asset goals, including planning and logistics for assigned completion activities from drilling rig release through hand-off to production operations

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee

• Valid Well Control certificate or ability to obtain Well Control certificate upon hire

• Current/Valid driver's license

• 5 years of experience in the upstream petroleum industry

• Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel to remote field locations and work under harsh weather conditions

• Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 50% or more of the time

• Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work a rotational work schedule

Preferred:

• 10 years of completions experience

• Basic level of proficiency in SAP based accounting system

• Basic level of proficiency in engineering applications software

• Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word

• Basic level of experience using WellView daily reporting system

• Basic level of experience working in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment.

• Basic level of experience in simultaneous operations

• Basic level of experience in horizontal multi-stage high rate stimulations using plug and perf and/or sleeve techniques

• Basic level of experience working with drill out rigs, rig assist and standalone snubbing units

• Basic level of experience working with wireline and pressure control equipment for logging, setting packers, perforating etc

• Basic level of experience in coil tubing, drill out and intervention in high pressure wells

• Basic level of knowledge of completion equipment systems required for artificial lift, such as gas-lift, rod pumps and ESP's

• Familiarity with a network of rig contractors and related service providers

• Strong leadership and communication skills complimented with openness to new ideas, leading by example, and the ability to take direction

• Safety and regulatory training consistent with company standards
